You should get quickly your base knowledge of networking by following
the pathes you got already. Whenever a question left off use the usenet!
Find a news server of your choice and set it to the newsgroups
comp.os.os2.networking.*
When you have the chance to replace the old OS/2 WARP 3 or WARP 4 with
eCS you'll find much help on
news://news.ecomstation.com/ecomstation.support.metworking
too.
At least it is easy to bind an eCS client into a network using M$
servers even as WARP Server or WSoD (or better eComStation Server.
A low range serverless network can easy communicate between eCS
linux or M$ clients too even as mixed server networks with mixed OS
clients. eCS is in this case quite more easy than all others.
Setup (speak install) is more easy than XP even directly from a server
(WSoD, WARP Server or eComStation Server or M$ Server) because the eCS
installer is CID based and it is easy to make the installer server
based instead CD based.
Diskless boot is when there is a server in the network easy to build too.
So whenever TCO is a question eCS wins! Because maintenance can be
done on the server for each user. When multi user capabilities
required then look at HOBBES for the free extension.
You needs a restricted WPS? Look at HOBBES to find some different
solutions for free.
