BL> Will the 500Mb format LBA, or does that only work above 1024 BL> heads? BG> If you do a HD auto-detect, you'll see that the Award BIOS BG> gives you both LBA and NORMAL options, even for drives which BG> total less than 1024*16*63. The old WD drive doesn't support LBA. I only get NORMAL for that one. BG> Mine is a VLB card, was supplied with EIDE drivers for DOS and BG> OS/2 (although OS/2 own IDE driver works just as well), and BG> cost me the grand total of just $23.00. In fact it was so BG> bloody cheap that I would have felt guilty about chasing one up BG> at dealer price, so I didn't even bother. That's what I'll do on Monday then: ring around to get me a $23 VLB board to go with my $80 CD and cheap RAM! I don't know how they do it for the price. I bought the Trading Post today and 16MB RAM is down to $180; it looks like it hasn't hit bottom yet... The bit that stuns me is that 4Mb RAM is $45. That values the chips at $2.50 each! I costed 16M RAM at $150 allowing $10 a chip. It must mean that 16Mb could go as low as $50, eventually. Gee...
