CH> It would probably help if there was more information than you have
CH> given us. What kind of printer is it? Is it a printer that requires
CH> the WINDOWS printing system?
JS>Not sure about that. I am using the drivers that came with the NT CD rom.
JS>It is a Panasonic 1180
What kind of printer is it (inkjet, laser, dot matrix, etc.)? I fixed a
similar problem on my HP LJ5L by 1) using 300dpi instead of 600dpi (temporary
"fix") and 2) adding memory to the printer and using 600dpi (permanent fix).
If you can't add memory, try a lower resolution, especially with highly
graphical prints.
CH> Also, does it print ok from DOS or from 16 bit Windows? Semi fried
CH> parallel ports or printer cables with bad connections can cause what
CH> you describe.
JS>It works just fine from Windows 95 and DOS.
The printer drivers for my 5L were significantly different between 95 and NT.
The 95 driver worked fine at 600dpi since all processing was done in the
computer while NT'd drivers passed the job to the printer to be processed.
Also, make sure that a sound card, etc. is not using a parallel port resource
if the port is set to ECP or EPP. Interrupts are a frequent source of
roblem
with IRQ7 being used for LPT1 and IRQ5 used for LPT2. DMA3 is also used for
ECP ports...
