RELEASE 2003-037: NASA MANAGER PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL IMPOSITION

On May 19, 2003, Louis J. Kiraly, of Cleveland, Ohio, pled guilty
before Judge Burt W. Griffin, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas,
to one count of sexual imposition (touching someone when the touching
is offensive to the victim or when the victim's abilities are
impaired). Kiraly received a sentence of 60 days in jail, which was
suspended, and 5 years probation.  He was also ordered to pay a fine
of $500 and court costs, and was forbidden to resume employment with
NASA.  Kiraly had served as the Chief of the Structures and Acoustics
Division, for the Research and Technology Directorate, at NASA's
Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Westlake, Ohio, Police Department conducted the investigation
with assistance from the NASA Office of Inspector.  The prosecution
was handled by Assistant County Prosecutor Richard Bombik, Cuyahoga
County Prosecutor's Office, Cleveland, Ohio.
