Deming may have had a good grasp of psychology in dealing with
participants who _want_ to be participants due to the incentive of pay in two
weeks with bills coming due, but do you think Deming's philosophy equally
applies to _involuntary_ participants who see no direct personal reward in
the near term (like third-graders)?

I'd also add: if Deming is a cure-all to industrial management, why
haven't troubled companies wanted to sign him up as a CEO _permanently_?
