TAS never achieved the recognition it deserved because of its time slot: 
  Saturday morning, usually associated with cheap fare for the little 
kiddies.  No one over the age of 14 watched Saturday morning cartoons.

When a network thought that an animated show might have wider appeal, 
they would give it a prime time slot: The Bullwinkle Show, The 
Flintstones, The Simpsons, etc.  But not TAS.
