   Hello There,
The difference between the 10 band and 12 band scanner is the frequencies 
they can pick up...the 10 band gets 10 meter ham, low band, 6 meter ham, 
military, 2 meter ham, high band, federal gov't, 70cm ham, uhf band, and "t" 
band.  The 12 band get's all those freqs plus aircraft, so you can listen to 
the airports and airplanes flying in your area...this scanner can also get 
the "800" band which contains 800 and 900 mhz; there you can hear cellular 
phones and other trunked freqs.  the channels is the amount of freqs you can 
program into the scanner and save.  I'm can't tell you much about the 
stationary scanners because I do not have one...
