On Friday, 96/11/08, Leslie Rhorer wrote to David Noon about "Named Pipes" as follows: LR> No, it's to the parallel port. LR> I'm not certain to what MCI refers. It's a control interface for multimedia stuff. Irrelevant to parallel ports. LR> author suggested Named Pipes, of course, which leads us to LR> where we are now. You had some other ideas. Event semaphores. I've dug up my copy of Ralf Brown's interrupt list. We might be able to get this sorted out quite soon, since the OS/2 program can do all the grunt work of setting up the semaphore and posting it when it's ready. The DOS program need only open the semaphore, wait on the semaphore post and close it, using an INT for each. It should be do-able in Power BASIC, since it can issue DOS interrupts (I think). I'll fiddle around with QBASIC, since I don't own a copy of Power BASIC, to try it out here.
