 They ALL had to learn form a Working Remote.
IF yuors was not functioning and you couldn't find some with a good
wroking one you either had to pay those Outlandish prices for an
Officual Factory replacement or replace the TV set or whatever it was
with the non wroking remote..

 That is if you wanted all the functions that were offered with the
origional. 
You can get the most basic functions from any number of pre-programed
Universal remotes.                            
But I don't know any of those that can go into the Setup to make any
changes. Like seting the clock and in some cases even setting up to
record..
