I was wondering if anyone could advise me on this subject.  Being born
into a protestant family, thought not necessarily practicing as it
were, I was wondering whether it were possible to change to being a
Catholic.  I don't know if there are any boundries, rules or ideas
that hinder someone from doing such a thing...

[The obvious place to ask is the nearest Catholic church. They accept
anyone, Protestant or otherwise. In most churches there's a fairly
well organized process of teaching adult converts, which can often 
involve a year of study. Not a bad thing, I think. --clh]
