I was pleasantly surprised to find stout OFC cabling in my present
set of speakers, as well as large-excellent fitting-gold plated spade lugs
attached to about a two inch length of Monster speaker cable, connecting the
bi-wire binding posts together. I had auditioned several sets of speakers up
to that point and they all fit the mold you spoke of; cheapo flimsy wiring
everywhere within the speaker, yet calling for "excellent quality - large
diameter premium cables" in the manual or accompanying documentation. For
what? The glaring weak link was within, as you point out.
Sometimes there is just so much hype and FUD, it is difficult to pin
down the simple basics of where we are trying to go and whether a product
will
take you there or not.
That makes evaluating new products extremely difficult for the novice.
A good example would be the new Bob Carver amp series called "Sunfire" I
believe. Some reviewers have called it revolutionary and the direction which
the mainstream will follow. Others have judged it to be smoke and mirrors and
another left handed swipe at picking the consumers pocket. Through all the
articles fending off one anothers opinions it became impossible for the
novice
like myself to get a basic beat on the design and form an opionion of whether
the new amps will actually work as advertised.
Cheers, John
