Great! I'm glad I did not offend you. I can do that sometimes,
unintentionally of course! 8)

I got "caught" about a year ago for posting a message with the
abbreviation "comp. serial" -- boy was I blushing.

Well, too bad I'm not going this year. I went the last two years, but our
plant is on a rotating schedule, so I will have to wait another year or
two. I think this PRO_VIDEO echo is wonderful, but I'm quite frankly very
surprised that there isn't more message traffic. I also get a little
frustrated with the lack of message topics on high-end production
things--ie, BetaSP or better, digital routing/switching, non-linear, as
well as tips/techniques for accomplishing editing tricks, etc. I would
really like to read discussions on graphics styles and trends. I know
that there are a lot of folks who read this echo who are very experienced
and work with the best in equipment and people, but it seems they don't
post very much. :( Maybe they're just too busy charging $500+/hour per
room.
Since I work in corporate video, the pressures from customers are a bit
different. We are a little behind the curve in terms of providing
nonlinear to both ourselves as operators/creative (ease of use) and our
clients (when a project is on tape, we naturally balk at making some of
their stupid and unnecessary changes).

I haven't heard of the "nite suite". What production level is it?
ie--What market are they trying to reach (high/mid/low/??)?

Yes, you should! I don't think anyone else in the industry is doing what
they're doing. Others are building/offering video servers, but the Media
Pool is doing it as an open-ended machine which is capable of interfacing
with anyone else's gears--for editing, clips recording, on-air playback,
whatever--the product really opens up some doors for facilities like ours.

How true. Well, I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but the Flyer
itself is a card which fits in the Amiga. However, unlike the Toaster
card, the Flyer does not rely on any of the Amiga's custom chips and
therefore its ease-of-portability to other platforms is greatly increased.

Ahem! Who in their right mind is still using one of those beasts?!? :)
There's one way to get them out of service, and that's if all the repair
houses say, "it will cost more to fix it than to replace it."
Take care and God bless!
