Just out there a couple of weeks ago and the first time since it changed 
status.  It appears to me that it is not more active than it was when it 
was active duty.  Civilian Guards on duty at the gate and that's about 
the only obvious change.  The Hospital has changed hands and now I think 
it is TCOM (Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine).  BX still running 
full force and actually looks better.  
On the date I'm not sure.  It was announced in about l995 and took about 
2 years to come about.  O'yes the Golf course is now Carswell Municipal 
and is much improved.
Yes, they closed Dallas NAS and made it a Joint Reserve Base.
