But that's my point. It doesn't *matter* how much bass is in the
rear channels if it's under 80Hz or so (or especially 40Hz), because your
brain can't localize that bass anyhow. Adding more subs for the rear
channels (or full range speakers) is just going to cause interference
patterns in the room that will be hard to deal with. Furthermore, it's just
a waste of money you could better use towards the decoder or what not. Have
you read the June edition of Audio magazine and the article they have
specifically on subwoofers for AC-3? It's the article you've been looking
for. I personally would take the word of anyone that's trying to sell me
something with a grain of salt. Audio is fairly unbiased. They aren't
dealing with any particular manufacturer in this article.

Yeah, I'll probably have to wait that long anyhow. It's just too
expensive to do it right all at once...for me anyways. (and that's without
any subwoofers to worry about) Between the extra amps, center channel
speaker, and that expensive Lexicon processor and a new laserdisc player with
an AC-3 port on it, it'll be awhile. I'm going to start with getting an amp
for the rear channels (actually I'm thinking of using the TFM-35x for that
and getting a TFM-55x for the main channels) and a passive surround decoder
that attaches to a tape loop. From there, I'll probably add the center
channel speaker. Then, either the cheapest version of the Lexicon, which
I'll eventually upgrade or the laserdisc player. I'm actually waiting more
along the lines for stereo surround CDs, be it DVDs or what not. I don't
watch *that* many movies to be worth *that* much money for home theater
sound. I listen to music probably 20x as often as a movie on the stereo.
