There is a general global way of measuring this... Did you skip classes the
day they were teching this stuff?
You only have to travel around the world and live in a few different
countries to know what Andrew is saying. Anyone who thinks our standard of
living is not extremely high, even one of the very highest is totally
wacked! Take a reality pill and go live in another country, or even easier,
talk to a few immigrants.

It's those "problems" that make the difference in the
"standard of living" especially problems such as crime, poverty,
starvations, public health, pollution, repression, wars etc etc.. No
country is perfect and i'm certainly no nationalist, but I am aware that I
am lucky to be here, through some fate of nature, and not born as a crack
baby in some slum-hole or one of the thousands that die of hunger every
day. It's us that know it's better here, not them. The dead and dying know
nothing of your excess..
