DD> The chap in question has an older Rockwell based V.FC modem (hence no

DD> Jill's Sportster online, he connects at 19,200 V.FC and gets reasonable

I have been saying all along that it seems that Rockwells go for the
highest connect figure (no doubt to impress the new owner) and this
does not mean diddly squat. Better to have a solid 26400 or less to
a rockwell and at least get results.
DD> More tongue in cheek . . .
DD> Before the current Courier, I ran the BBS on an internal V32bis
DD> Sportster.
DD> Prior to that I ran it on a NetComm M5 V32 that I paid $1000 for on a
DD> sysop
DD> deal. Prior to that I used a NetComm 1234. I am vaguely aware of
DD> NetComm
DD> commands.
I still have a Netcomm 1234 internal here (for sale if you want go
back to something, so slow, that it is reliable)
