Mike,
You're frankly acting like a jerk, not 'in a spirit of good humour and
friendliness'.
You also have no idea of my background, only that I don't agree with some of
your ideas. From that, you assume that I'm some sort of fossil, stuck in the
steam age. That is assuredly not the case.
However, I've lived long enough to see lots of good ideas come and go. Some
simply weren't ready for prime time and will see the light of day in the
future. I suspect that turbine engine technlogy, applied to automotive use,
is in this catagory. It is NOT ready now, nor in the immediate future.
Same thing with flywheel energy storage. This was used in busses in Sweden 30
years ago. It 'might' work 'someday', but it ain't ready now.
One more thing: The topic of this conference is Home Power, that is, using
devices and technlogy to generate your own power needs without reliance upon
the grid. That means that general discussions about automobiles, interesting
as they are, are off-topic. Same with political discussions about the use of
nuclear power, etc.
On-topic discussions include PhotoVoltaic (PV) electric generation, wind
generators, small-scale hydropower, engine-driven generators used at home,
etc. Although never stated, I'd consider wood heating to be on-topic.
Knocking another person, for whatever reason is NEVER on-topic.
