God led the children of Israel out of bondage and provided them
manna for food, six days a week, but withheld it on the seventh
because this was His Sabbath. This process continued for 40
years, and the pattern was pretty well embedded into the minds of
those involved. They and their descendants have not lost track of
this 7 day sequence since, and by their accounts, the Lord's
Sabbath falls on Saturday of the calendar we use today. That is,
Sabbath starts at sundown Friday evening and continues until
sundown Saturday evening.
