KR> and such.. Well I've been off topic enough for one day =) Oh'yah
KR> would you know how hard it would be to convert a tube amp for a car?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
THAT would be over the top! I'm not a real car-audio buff, but I
am quickly becoming a tube audio buff after buying a 2x40 watt
Golden Tube Audio amp last year.
KR> heh i seen some cars in CA&E with tube amps.. i think that would be
Remember the manufacturers?
KR> cool if i had a deep enough pocket =) since i'm a fan of tube amps..
How about a tube-driven home theater system? I not-too-
seriously considered getting an old tube amp to mess around
with for the rear channels...but with all the excitement
about tubes these days, I dunno if I could get a used amp
cheap enough. I can't exactly afford to go out and buy
3 Cary monoblocks. :^( But it does make for a nice thought
if I win the lottery. :^) Throw in a powered sub or two
to go boom-boom. I think THIS system would be a blast.
KR> but don't have one =( then again i can't afford a simple 2x30w tube
KR> amp.. why is something on a older design so much more expensive..
Cause the neat-stuff club says so! Solid state amps I like
(BEL and little Pass) are two to three TIMES the cost of my
GTA. Same things with CD players: the good ones aren't cheap.
Actually, for the price of a good A/V receiver, Jolida can
get you into integrated tube amps. We do have a local dealer,
but I haven't heard them on purpose because I'd probably want
to take one home for the bedroom system.
Have fun dreaming about that tube-powered car audio!
