Just as a general rule, quoting scripture (especially from the O.T.) is
a risky business. As soon as you point to a verse that supports or
refutes the acceptabilty of capital punishment, someone else will point
out it's opposite. I'm sure we're all aware of the admonition to kill
those wearing clothes of 2 different materials. How can one justify any
modern system of laws of ethics with rules like that? How many people
here sacrificed an animal when their first son was born?
I have heard that Jesus's life and death brought us into different
'age' where O.T. rules are not used anymore, but I'm unsure of the
exact nature of this view. If anyone follows this belief, I'd love to
see some scripture to back this up and explain which rules apply and
which don't.
