JT> I care. I'm looking for a new toy for our kitten. What if the

Then what's the brand? It didn't register, did it? The ad was a
complete waste of space. Whatever it is, I like their ads... the one
with the stressed goldfich was funny too (the tampon is *really*
absorbent, and the fish is frightened it'll fall in his tank).
> Who gives a shit?
JT> Those who are going to buy that brand of toilet paper.
JT> (chuckle)
Concord has gone upmarket, it's yuppy heaven now, complete with
Beemers and compulsory 4WDs, so Coles has gone upmarket in the egg
aisle. You could spend an hour working out which is the healthiest
fucking egg (I wish I didn't know where they came from)... but the big
seller and the one that always runs out first is the $2.09 no-name
cheapies. It restored my faith in people. I mean, an egg is a fucking
egg! They're *all* unhealthy!
> We're already watching their fucking movie, what more do they

JT> To watch their ads. That's what they're there for. You didn't
JT> think that they set up all that transmission equipment for
JT> anything other than a business and to make money did you? What
JT> else could it be for- entertainment? --
What came first, TV or the advertising industry? TV gives access to
30% of the total population on a daily basis. "Of course* ad-agencies
want access to that, but they're not the only ones. If in a moment of
total lucidity, the government allowed a maximum of ten-minutes per
hour of program (it's running closer to 50-50 just now), 30% of the
population would still be there, and TV networks would still make
money. The product they sell is not advertising space... it's access
to 30% of the population on a daily basis.

Bob
