| subject: | Win 311 Networking |
Hi all,
my old Grep program still works in Win98 (Win98 really is
escellent for running old DOS programs), but I had to boot Win311 to
modify the resource file, and while Iwas there I decided to try Win311
as a network.
Jeeze! Win311 really makes an excellent network... no trouble at
all. It took me a while to work out that I had to map the network
drives, but once I did it just worked like a charm... running the
32-bit fast PCI ethernet and all! I'm not quite sure how it manages
that, but my PCI ethernet comes with a Win311 driver, and it does.
In fact, it's a blooody-sight easier to set up than Win98, and a
whole Galaxy easier than fucking Linux and Sambo.
I keep asking myself... excepting money, why the fucking hell did
Microsoft ever move on from Win3i1? It's three or four-times as fast
as the 32-bit Win98, it's easier, and it bloody works!
All the bullshit aside... does anyone have a TCP/IP protocol for
Win311?
I've loaded NetMIOUW (or whatever... I'll look it up) NetBEUI, and
that works perfectly well so far as I can tell, but Sambo only does
TCP/IP and it'd be nice to be able to network Win311 out of Linux too.
Regards,
Bob
