-=>I distinctly overheard Valerie Murphy say to Wanda Guin<=-
Valerie,
VM> I know what you mean. We never did crafts in my house either. I never
You either?! But you're so creative!
VM> recomend because it is such fun. It is called, "Fabric Applique for
VM> Home and Fashion." It's a magazine looking book, but this particular
VM> one is all about using Mod Podge. Any craft store should carry it.
I'll look for it, it sounds like right up my alley.
VM> Thats what crafting is all about isn't it? It so fun to scrounge
VM> around the house and recycle used things into pretty new things.
I ordered a book from Aleen's, called Trash to Treasure. It's very
good, but of course they'd like me to order more. The next book looks
great. It is about making angels out of household items...It's hard
to resist it, as I love angel things.
VM> I made some really nice baskets using Mod Podge. You could also use
You are just going crazy with the Mod Podge! :) I haven't really tried
it on baskets yet, though that's on my 'to do' list.
VM> kinds of baskets. It is really easy and economical and I filled them
VM> with various things and gave them as gifts. Everyone loved them.
I have a large seashell that I want to glue some fabric into, and put
sea shell soaps in for a gift.
VM> I probably didn't explain that very well because I'm so tired. I can
VM> do it over if you want me to. I also used the same technique to
No, I got it. I explain about how you do. We speak the same language!
VM> decorate small straw hats. Then I graduated to using material. I cut
VM> out flowers and or fish and mod podged them to canvas bags. They came
VM> out really nice and everyone I gave them to loved them.
I haven't tried using material for Mod Podging.
VM> It's also fun to stencil onto canvas bags and then you can personalize
I haven't gotten into stenciling yet.
VM> I've glued the shells to cards and recently I found a small wooden
---snip---
VM> North Carolina. She was thrilled with it.
This sounds so cute! I bet she loved the box.
VM> I think shells would have been great glued with modge podge or Aileens
VM> super tacky glue onto the outside of the box. Also a few shells, some
I like this idea...
VM> Just let you imagination go and start looking at everyting as a
VM> potential craft object.
Oh it is! I hate to throw anything away now.
VM> Heck some of the people here use styrafaom meat trays to make pins and
VM> earrings. I don't do it, but I know several people here do.
Can also be used to make Christmas ornaments.
I have tried this a little bit. I even have a styrofoam cutter, that
heats up and cuts through it like butter. Have to be careful with that
one!
Thanks for all the ideas! You've been a great instigator. Uh, I mean
inspiration! :)
take care,
Wanda
