RG> Fuck, I've never heard anyone call Samba Fabulous before. AC> Unfortunately Bob's message was completely devoid of any AC> specific problems he has with Samba so it's pretty hard to give AC> a decent answer. A quick search on Google would've provided AC> some example configuration files though, if that's what he's AC> after. My only problem with SAMBA was in trying to make sense of the documentation - a severe lack of understanding. How can anyone write 150 pages to describe a config file that is only 20-lines long? And that's the long version! I'm a mile past sample configuration files. I last used worked examples at high school in the 1950's. AC> Blaming Samba's problems on Linux is a bit of a stretch! In SAMBA, I have discovered that it is pointless giving network access to files that Linux denies. I have also discovered that even as root, it is impossible to change access to files on a Windows drive. Hence, I blame fucking Linux! It seems tro me that Linux is designed to *prevent* shared access to files, the same nanny-mentality that pervades Microsoft... "Don't tell us what you want; ask what we allow." There is absolutely nothing to stop me taking theside of the box, ripping out the hard drive, and trashing it! Why do these DICKEAD uniwanker programmers think that software should be any different? If I want to give free access to the files on a drive, why the hell not? *That's* why I blame fucking Linux. It's wall-to-wall uniwanker. BTW, a "uniwanker" is a dork with a university degree (probably PhD) b ut with no experience of the real world, commerce, or any fucking thing else. They are attracted to Linux like flies to rotten meat, and more uniwanker maggots are the result.
