I'm looking to add a hard drive/ram expansion to my Amiga 500
(1meg KS1.3).  The only HD add-ons for the 500 I've seen advertised
are from the UK being the M-TEC and Alpha.
 
As I know little about either of these units, I would appreciate
comments from anyone that has used them - features, ease of use,
expandability, compatibility, problems etc.
 
I imagine that getting technical backup for either unit would be
pretty much zero in this country, so servicability would be another
factor to consider - whether or not custom parts are used,
components are surface mounted etc.
