The only upgrade for you would be to 33.6. Here is some info:
ENTIRE DIAMOND MODEM LINE ACHIEVES 33,600 BPS SPEED - SupraSonic,
SupraFAXModem and SupraExpress lines now transmit data up to 16% faster.
VANCOUVER, Wash.-- June 5, 1996 -- Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc.
announced that all 28,800 bps Diamond modems will incorporate the
enhanced version of the ITU-TSS V.34 transmission standard, providing
data speeds up to 33,600 bps.
Under optimal phone line conditions, every Diamond modem from the
SupraExpress, SupraFAXModem and SupraSonic product families will have
the ability to connect and transmit data at up to 33,600 bits per
second, 16% faster than 28,800 bps modems.
The new standard will be implemented immediately, replacing Diamond's
current SupraSonic, SupraFAXModem and SupraExpress series 28,800 bps
modems. The new product versions are expected to hit the retail shelves
by the end of June and should not increase current, affordable retail
prices.
Customers who purchased a 28,800 bps Diamond SupraSonic modem can
download firmware supporting 33,600 bps operation from the Diamond
Communications Division Web site, (http://www.supra.com) or BBS (541-967-
2444).
SupraFAXModem customers can download a program from the Diamond
Communications Division Web site, or BBS to determine if their modem can
be software upgraded to 33,600 bps or will require a hardware upgrade
for $40,
plus shipping and handling.
For customers who purchased a 28,800 bps Diamond SupraExpress modem
after March 31, 1996, Diamond is offering an upgrade kit to 33,600 bps
for only a shipping and handling charge.
SupraExpress owners who purchased their modem before April 1, 1996 can
receive an upgrade kit for $10, plus shipping and handling. The upgrade
process is designed to be as simple as possible for the customer.
Upgrade
kits and on-line downloadable firmware releases will be available by the
end of June.
Owners who want to upgrade should check the Web site, BBS or contact
Diamond at 1-800-727-8772.
