There's all kinds of uses for SCRs and triacs.  They're quite common in 
switching circuits.

Pretty much anything with an "LM" prefix is going to be an analog or linear 
chip.  All kinds of those in use from operational amplifiers (very common in 
distortion boxes) to voltage regulators.  Besides... I was talking about guys 
performing mods on older amps... no telling what they'll use to increase gain 
or revoice the amp.
