Of all the A/C that I have ever flown I think the 18 was the hardest of
all to fly well consistantly (landings). It was a beautiful machine but
it was the most handful that I have ever been in. I was riding right
seat one time with someone I considered most qualified and he didn't
lock the tail wheel and when we landed we got the two or three rotation
on the bungee gear. Nothing damaged but scared the you know what out of
me. Thus coined the term, "Fly it till it's parked and the Engines are
shut down".
