Microsoft is a company & they own their product however the "OSS
guys" could be people paid to do the work by a comp such as Novell or
IBM & who then give the s/w away for free or who could be kids in their
bedroom or people doing it in their spare time etc.

It would be possible to compare "OSS guys" with "proprietary
guys" & thus claim that MS is thus responsible for Oracle products
or that Sybase is thus responsible for IBM products etc.
