"Matt Mc_Carthy" bravely wrote to "Joe Nicholson" (13 Nov 03 00:59:47) --- on the heady topic of "Color TV (was music)" MM> The really strange ones were the ones with the 'large screen'. The only way it could be viewed was to be dead in front of the MM> TV, and the whole family always huddled tight in that one spot. I think I actually saw something like that once. Do you remember looking at TV in a mirror? The tv had the crt mounted vertically pointing up and the top lid flipped open at 45 degrees to reveal a mirror under the lid. But the cheesiest had to be in the late 50's or early 60's where one could buy a transparent plastic overlay to place over the crt. The top was tinted blue and the bottom green. It worked great with outdoor scenes such as in "Daniel Boone" with Fess Parker but it made Ed Sullivan look bizarre. Thank God for pot or we would never had gotten over the horror. Mike **** ...
