Most people have a false mental image of how to accomplish this. They
believe that all it takes is to fit an airplane engine into a car. Just
because they think it can't be done doesn't mean it's so since it is
evidently being done today.
It really scares a lot of people to discover some of what they learned
in the past has now become obsolete. Is it so surprising then why there
is often strong resistance to new ideas that threaten to upset long held
notions? In his time Galileo faced this very same problem. I'm not a
Galileo but the problem is similar: a lot of vcr's blinking 12:00.
