In the past, Matthew has made it a parable.  I do not think it is.  I
believe Jesus was talking about a literal man who had recently died and
the disciples apparently knew who he was and his situation.  I see no
reason to make this a parable.  It does not have the same
characteristic notations as do many of the other parables.  But one
cannot be dogmatic about it.
