Carl Bogardus On (07 Jan 97) was overheard to say to Ron McDermott
RM> How do you feel about Carl Bogardus' and Deming's belief
RM> that this end of things accounts for only 15% of the
RM> problem?
CB> Wait! What I think Deming might say that 85% of the problems with the
CB> relationship with parents and schools is caused by school management,
CB> (mismanagement?). Parents are not going to be involved in schools
CB> until the relationship between them and the admin becomes one of
CB> working partners.
I don't know if you read, or recall, my comments here some time ago
about the attitude of _many_ admins in our local system. The
image/attitude they project toward parents is unconscionable. What
is really frustrating and angers a large number of parents is that
they (admins) don't display any understanding of what the problem
_really_ is so, therefore, it has to be with the parents who
stubbornly refuse to do as they are told. The previous and current
superintendents are of the mindset that anyone who has "risen" to be
principal or AP of a school can do no wrong. I guess not as long as
they are in there sucking up all the time.
