| subject: | Re: Did Enoch Die? |
In the 5th chapter of Genesis of the RSV, the author tells something about a man and then usually adds, "and he died". At the end of the accounts of Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Methuselah and Lemech are the statements that tell of their deaths. The only exception is the account of Enoch, where in the place of, "and he died" the author writes, "and he was not, for God took him". To me, this indicates that the author was suggesting that Enoch did not die. Now, if the idea that Enoch did not die, is not harmonious with ones theology, that person can just ignore it. No big deal. If one does not like a story, skip it. To try to make a story come out different from how it is written however, is pointlessness. Genesis 5:24 Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. ((( s.r.c.b-s is a moderated group.
