ALM> I changed mine the other day from 19200 to 32400. Over ALM> several days the transfer rate was down by approx 300cps, ALM> so I've put it back to 19200 and it's fine again. RS> Are you seeing errors at the Zmodem file transfer protocol level ? ALM> No I forget what happens with Frodo now I come to think of it, think its a lot less visible on Zmodem errors than say Telemate for example. RS> If you are, likely you dont have a 16550 uart and the system handles the RS> lower port speed better coz it has more time to respond to an interrupt. ALM> It's a PCMCIA modem, I have no idea how they interface to the system. That shouldnt be the problem with your config below. RS> Thats normal if you are having interrupt latency RS> problems, in fact the lower port speed helps. ALM> Yair, but this is a fairly new pentium machine. ALM> I'm booting it to a seperate dos config for frontdoor so ALM> there's nothing else going on. It should go like stink. If you mean real booted DOS 6.2 or close, yes, it should and you do have some problem. Mostly likely the drivers for the PCMCIA tho. I'd do some tests with something like Telemate to see if you still see the low thruput without any Zmodem errors, just to eliminate any possibility of just a basic interrupt latency problem. If you still arent seeing Zmodem errors, its got to be the PCMCIA drivers. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 |
