subject: WP for DOS abandoned

BW> We all knew this was coming, but I didn't think so
BW> soon. WordPerfect has now abandoned WordPerfect for
BW> DOS newsletter and disk of the month.
BW> They will fill the subscriptions out with
BW> WordPerfect for Windoze Magazine or newsletter and
BW> disk. No refunds.
BW> I have more than a year to go on my subscriptions,
BW> so I'll take the Windoze crap, tho I don't know if it
BW> will be helpful. Since they won't give a refund...
BW> keep my money for nothing. I've been a loyal user and
BW> reader too long to by treated that way. I think it's a
BW> pretty dirty trick!

BW> What do the rest of you DOS readers think?
I agree, it pretty well stinks, and it's indicative of the
trend of computer software manufacturers depending on user
easy (Ha!) software and the one finger approach to be what
people want. Personally I am not that impressed with
Windoze, even windoze 95, and although it does have more
bells and whistles than Win3.1, it still does more of the
thinking and has less of a personal control for users. It
is the wave of the future for all computers, software, and
even users to skinny up to windoze, but it's a heady thing
having all that power and none of the control that one can
have with some programs in DOS. Funny thing, I've been
lurking around the Wordperfect conference for awhile, and
I can see that there's more problems with WP trying to
interface with Win, than it had in the past as a stand alone
program in DOS. Even I have problems with my Wp5.1 trying
to interface with Win95, and I've been forced to compromise
and not be able to use many of the fonts I can use in dos.
But I have to to use the printer I have with the Win95 system
I have. So it makes you wonder, doesn't it.
