subject: decimated Orioles

How much has Yankee Pat weakened the Orioles since the 1996 season ended?
Let's do a little figuring:
The Orioles have lost 28 homers and 116 rbi (Bonilla in right.)
The Orioles have lost about 25 homers and 100 rbi (third base.)
The Orioles have added 5 homers and 54 rbi (Bordick.)
So far, that nets out to a loss of about 48 homers and 160 rbi.
Then, we have to assume Brady won't hit 50 homers again. Maybe 25. Subtract
the 25 he won't hit, and about 40 rbi.
Now, we have a net loss of about 73 homers and 200 rbi. Of course, whoever
plays right will add a bit of offense, but that won't make up for the losses.
Meanwhile, the Orioles' problem of pitching remains unaddressed. There's no
talk of a four man rotation, so they still will be adding a journeyman bum to
start 32 games next season. The payroll will be higher, but the team will
probably be watching the playoffs on TV. *adh*
