Well, of course it does work, but if you intend to use C++ rather than C and if you write large pieces of code, I would not call that "run" but rather "creep". For C++ development I would not recommend less than a 486/100 (better a Pentium/133) and at least 20 MB of RAM. For pure C development these requirements are not true. 12 MB and a 486/33 will do, although, again, I would recommend 16 MB and a 486/66 or better to speed up the compiler performance.
