BG> And explains the reduced Tx levels from your average Rockwell. You dont know thats right yet. BL> One of these days, I'll stick a CRO on the line when I call Paul. BL> Just listening to the speaker, the NetComm is very quiet on its first BL> reply, then it gets about twice as loud, but it is a *lot* quieter BL> than my Sportie. Poor old Bob. Its hardly very surprising that its quieter than the local modem. What he should be doing is calling an M34F or a USR AT THE OTHER END and seeing if there is a measurable difference. And its not that easy to measure with a cro either with the common mode problem. It may well be very difficult to work out just what is the V34 line test phase from the other end modem too, let alone the massive problem with the fact that your own modem is transmitting too. The short story is that thats a lot harder to do than you might think. BL> Yair... I thought it might be that USR just made poorer connection BL> with others, but in fact they make superior connects with themselves. Pity that M34F do TOO Bob. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
