subject: what do I have here?

Hi Roy! :-)

RJT> First off, what I took to be the typical "intel inside"
thingy on
RJT> one of the chips -- on a heatsink, which should've tipped me off --
RJT> was "Video Inside"! The rest of what's on there is
"TX PRO II".
"TX pro II" is an alias name for the SiS 5598 chipset. Quoting from

    http://www.hardwaresite.net/txpro.html

"And the TX Pro II is just an alias for the 5598 chipset by SiS. This
chipset has an integrated video controller and, in general, comes with a
marking which reads "Video Inside", emulating the Intel logo,
"Intel Inside". But the technical characteristics of both
chipsets are the same..."

You'll need more than just the chipset info to figure out what all those
connectors on the board are.

Ciao
Pascal
