Hmmm... yeah and I picked the 'null-modem' bit and skipped the
'7-wire' bit.
To illustrate what I was referring to as a null modem cable as
defined by Dick Smith Electronics...
_______ ________
TD|____________________|RD
RD|____________________|TD
RTS|__ __|RTS
CTS|__| |__|CTS
DTR|__ __|DTR
DSR|__| |__|DSR
CD|__| |__|CD
SG|____________________|SG
_______| |________
In contrast, here's what I was referring to and could well be termed a
null-modem cable.
_______ ________
TD|____________________|RD
RD|____________________|TD
RTS|____________________|CTS
CTS|____________________|RTS
DTR|____________________|DSR
CD|__ |__|CD
DSR|__|_________________|DTR
SG|____________________|SG
_______| |________
With this arrangement you shouldn't get errors because the RTS signals
the CTS to start sending data provided that you have drop RTS on disk
writes enabled. This isn't an option on a lot of comms software and
could possibly be your problem.
Did you notice if the errors occurred during disk writes?
