SF> Being a route driver I listen to the radio everyday. I listen to
SF> Rush's radio program most days. The one thing I dislike is the
SF> tendency to harp on the same subject for days on end. Though I do not
I'd admit that Rush's program spends a lot of time covering the
same ground, but that's largely because Rush talks about whatever
is grabbing the headlines and news-airtime on a given day. If a
story stays in the news for several days, he and the callers will
discuss the new developments as well as all that has gone before.
Rush made a decision at the very beginning of the national show
to do a program that doesn't pre-plan topics or book guests as
most other national programs did...and still do, for that matter.
As he puts it, his show is event-driven rather than topic-driven.
SF> agree with Rush often(if I did I would have to see a therapist since
SF> disagreeing is a natural human instinct) when he is right it is
SF> because he has done his "homework".
From what little I've been able to gather from the few magazine
articles and TV features that have been done on him, he does a
lot of homework. It starts with e-mail and faxes that come in
after each day's show, adds TV news and newsmagazines that
evening, and continues with more e-mail until late into the
night. The next morning begins with newspapers and the morning
TV news shows, may continue with an all-news radio station on
the way to the office, then adds snailmailmail and more
newspapers (for a total of eight each day) to the combination
of TV news, e-mail and faxes. Throw in a little time spent
with news magazines and other media outlets, and you've got a
full day with little room for a social life; but Rush and Marta
aren't big on the social scene anyway.
I wouldn't want to live like that; but I'm glad Rush enjoys it,
because it means I can enjoy listening to Rush.

... When in doubt...no, don't do that either.
