50 half-frames per second

back when TVs were mechanical they used synchropnous motors to drive the
scanning mirrors, hence 60Hz vertical rate in USA and 50Hz in Europe etc...

fair enough, not that there's a fixed number of pixels per line in analogue

I thought there  were more lines than that... up rpound 600 somewhere?
but interlaced which could prove challenging to handle in a frame-based
format like AVI...
