| subject: | `Which C++ Compiler ?` -- The Pros |
DM> Excellent work, Jonathan. Keep it up - I knew I DM> wanted VAC, but now I DM> may also be interested in getting Metaware's compiler despite its DM> expense. Mayhaps AFTER I get a job... ;-) PC> I was considering Metaware, but someone said it has a weird calling PC> convention and the Metaware OS/2 tech support is bad (the techs don't PC> know OS/2?). This is just what I heard. Real programmers don't use tech support. ;-) [However, that inline assembly needs to know that calling convention... ] Seriously, though, I'm more interested in the compilers than the support. I've never called customer support for a compiler - only for pieces of hardware. :-) Besides, I found their tech support to be very good - when I was considering buying their package. I opted for Watcom when I found out that the Metaware's student pricing schedule was way overpriced and, further, the UNIVERSITY would own the licence, not me! --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: Tanktalus' Tower BBS (PVT) (1:342/708) SEEN-BY: 50/99 270/101 620/243 625/160 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 SEEN-BY: 711/955 712/407 515 624 628 713/317 800/1 @PATH: 342/5015 61 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 934 |
