I am evidently missing something big here and perhaps you can tell me
where I am getting lost. If the AC-3 is five discreet channels and a sub,
would I not be loosing bass content specifically destined for the rear
channels if I don't provide a subwoofer from which to reproduce them?
                               OR
Is the special "1" in the "5 and 1" channels intended to reproduce ALL
deep bass, regardless of whether it is recorded for the front or rear
channels?
Hmmmmmmm, looks like I might have answered my own question, Dahhhhhh! I just
always assumed (theres that word again) that the sub channel was a summed
bass
channel of only the fronts L,C,R, and the rears were left to fend for
themselves. That would also explain one of the answers I got from the merry
crew at Legacy, venturing that my concern/question would not be as big a deal
as what I imagined. Now thats character. Rather than try to sell me something
I actually didn't need or tell me I'm stupid, they explained what they
were/wern't doing and suggested I wait before making any decisions. Hmmm.

I had a listen to a CINEMAPRO amp this weekend. Outstanding and
Inexpensive by comparison! They have been building them for professional apps
for some time now and are just entering the consumer market. If you get a
chance you might like them.
Cheers, John
