Right indeed.

I have to admit, "our" OOo/2 is very, very stable. I have done some 
outragious real life operations (open 30 files at a time, edit them, 
export to pdf etc.. etc... ) and I haven't had one single crash nor 
freeze. That is impressive, as teh W* version is quite another mattter.

OTOH, it is true the program is souping up to much resources at launch. 
  It takes about 40 seconds to open the first file. If the quickstart 
thing had been activated, still about 15 seconds. (P4 perscott 3.2 Ghz).

When the  quickstart thing had been put in the startup folder, it eats 
that much of resources other programs tend to quit.

Me thinks that's more the problem, and not so much the fact being 
operated at an SMP system.

Bottom line, the launching method of OOo/2 needs to be ameliorated 
considerably.
