1) I didn't mean that the motherboard contained a virus. I meant that the 
overall system had one; eg - HD. 
2) I have since discovered that the new motherboard was having some strange 
conflict with my old HD. I removed the old one and put in into my mother's 
computer, and the problems were gone from both HDs.
