I kinda like the idea of a mesh bag (the ones sold for rinsing
skin-diving equipment are nice, they have a good positive
closing latch on 'em) hanging over the side and down where it's
cold... of course, I only do this when I'm docked - to try this
while sailing would definitely shake/break the bottles and would
cause immeasurable drag!

Well, I can think of at least one of our Toronto Marine police
who definitely WOULD see that as a fitting charge ... but the
gist of it was, as I recall from Laughlin, that the police made
them DRAIN the bottles into (onto?) the sand!.... what a waste
of good beer - unless, of course, it was American beer !
