Well, if I connect with PPPDIAL, how do I get it to 'resolve' the TCP/IP
stack so programs can access it correctly? That seems to be the problem.

Sounds pretty good but the system will slow down as each program
accesses the stack and uses CPU cycles, won't it? The advantage has to
decrease rapidly, I'd think.
