-> CA> I think I was told that PAL has advantages over NTSC -> CA> but I don't recall what they are/were? -> NTSC uses the same 525 lines for both B&W and color, -> and the same 6 MHz per channel bandwidth (54-60, -> 60-66, 66-72, 76-82, 82-88 for channels 2-6). The -> FCC wanted a compatible system for B&W and color. -> But by 2007 all current TV's in America will become -> obsolete when all stations MUST switch to digital. -> PAL is some 800 lines and I believe 8 MHz bandwidth -> (perhaps PAL went from 625 for B&W to around 725). -> Also, Phase Alternating Lines reduces change of color -> as lighting conditions vary. The human eye plays -> tricks and cancels changes between those alternating -> lines. I belive it is SECAM(Systeme Electronique Couleur Avec Me-System) that has 800 Lines. PAL has more then NTSC but less then SECAM Adn Incidently SECAM is not as superior to NTSC as the line cound implies becaue they use sequential signasls fro the Color Diference(R-Y/B-Y) effectively almost cutting the line count in Half as far as resolution capabilities goes.. I quote form the Harper Collins Electronics Dictionary: "The use of sequential signals effectively halves the Vertical Resolution, as the Summing of the signals does in the PAL system." --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
